Parliament Hill interfaith breakfast focuses on freedom of belief

Ottawa, Ontario, 8 December 2011 (CBNS)— Some 150 people of faith, Members of Parliament, Senators and Ambassadors participated in the Third Annual Interfaith National Breakfast on November 22, 2011. The breakfast was organized under the leadership of Co-Chair’s David Sweet, Member of Parliament, and Rabbi Reuven Bulka of the All Party Interfaith Friendship Group (APIF).

Toronto, Ontario, 23 October 2009 (CBNS) — The 2010 Partnership, representing 25 faith-based organizations in Canada and the 22 denominations of the Canadian Council of Churches, released a statement on 14 October that will form the basis of discussions by religious leaders at the 6th Annual Interfaith Leader’s Summit to be held parallel to the G8/G20 political leaders meeting in Canada in June 2010. The statement will also be used as the basis of a public engagement campaign which faith communities will pursue over the coming months.

[Photo by wyliepoon]Toronto, Ontario, 19 June 2008 (CBNS) — In a move towards greater religious inclusivity, Ontario legislators voted late last week to supplement the daily recitation of the Lord’s Prayer in the Ontario Legislature with prayers from several other major religious traditions, including a Baha’i prayer.

World Religion Day commemorated across Canada

A wide variety of events were held for the purpose of stimulating interfaith understanding and religious harmony, including a well-attended gathering at a United Church on Canada’s east coast and a conference on a university campus on the west coast.
