Taking a look at International Women’s Day across the country

St. Albert, Alberta Toronto, Ontario, 10 May 2010 (CBNS) — Baha’is across Canada celebrated International Women’s Day in March by creating spaces for communities to explore topics essential to advancing the status of women in Canadian society. At least five hundred people participated in 14 events held in coffee shops, community centres, banquet halls and libraries. Men and women participated in lively discussions, interactive presentations, singing, dancing, poetry, and a variety of visual arts.

Canadian Bahá’í Delegates at the Commission on the Status of Women

Elizabeth Wright, Gerald Filson and Deloria Bighorn, Canadian delegates to the UN CSWToronto, Ontario, 24 March 2009 (CBNS) — Three Canadian Bahá’ís joined an international Bahá’í delegation to participate in the 53rd UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), held in New York from 2 to 13 March 2009. The CSW is a technical commission of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. Its function is to promote women’s rights in political, economic, civil, social and educational fields and to make recommendations and present reports on the development of women’s rights and on new urgent issues.

Bahá’í delegates prepare for UN Commission on women
